It commenced operation on 29 February 1904. Since then it has grown into a theological college that provides education, formation, and training for ordinands, school chaplains, youth and children's ministers, AFES and IFES workers, evangelists, church planters, and overseas missionaries. Ridley welcomes students from all denominations, and provides part-time and full-time study options, distance education for first year subjects, and some accommodation.
